FDA reviewing promising allergy therapy
Wed May 8, 2013
One of the most deadly allergies is to peanuts and I hope that the treatment Brookek mentioned above works.
France legalizes gay marriage despite angry protests
Tue Apr 23, 2013
I, too, initially was against it but, then, I realized that for a valid marriage the couple have to have a marriage certificate issued by the state.
French photographer held four months by Afghan insurgents escapes
Mon Apr 8, 2013
How would he have been trained? People who are clever and observant know how to work things to their advantage, don't they? I'm fairly much of the opinion that some Euros changed hands someplace and he was "allowed" to escape, particularly since his compatriot was freed without "escaping".
Second Texas man charged with making 'terroristic threat' after DA's killing
Fri Apr 5, 2013
I hate to be a spoilsport and interject something into this discussion but for a full century the Supreme Court has followd the Clear and Present Danger test in determining the First Amendment's Right to Free Speech. If those Texas men said something like, "When Texas becomes a free country again, I …
Freed UN peacekeepers cross safely from Syria to Jordan
Sat Mar 9, 2013
As I understand it, the problem is fairly fluid as to who is a "rebel", with some of those forces not being our friends while others are. Should the US stay out of the Syrian situation completely? Or support the Assad regime along with their friends the Iranians? Suport the rebels//stay out compl …
Former top British cardinal apologizes for 'below standards' sexual conduct
Sun Mar 3, 2013

Thu Feb 28, 2013
From the Norman Conquest in 1066 until the mid-1300s, the common people spoke Anglo-Saxon while the Norman nobility spoke Norman-French. It was only after the devastation of the Black Death that the two languages were merged into something akin to our modern English.
Congressman making the most of his 7-week term
Fri Dec 14, 2012
David9000: The California State Assembly has had term limits for a number of years now and political scientists have found two groups that benefit from term limits: (1) Lobbyists; and (2) Legislative Staff. Being effective in a legislature is not intuitively obvious---it takes awhile for a newly el …
Same-sex wife of Army officer banned from joining Fort Bragg spouses club
Fri Dec 14, 2012
"...they should form their own club and stay out of where their [sic] not wanted." Sort of like African-Americans, huh? Let'm stay out of our white schools--they have their own. Let'm stay out of our restaurants--they can start their own. The pure stupidity of some people never fails to amaze me.
Do noisy restaurants get on your nerves?
Thu Dec 6, 2012
I went to a new, trendy restaurant a few years ago and there was a table of 12 late twenty-something women next to us who'd spent too much time at the restaurant's bar before sitting. Twelve shrill screaming patrons; I can still recall it.
